European Data Spaces will allow data to be made available and exchanged in a trustworthy and secure manner. Data spaces are an ecosystem built around commonly agreed-upon building blocks, enabling the effective and trusted sharing of data among participants to create value.

Required by the EU’s ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation), the Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital solution that collects and displays information about products' environmental impacts, raw materials, and safety. DPP data must be stored in a decentralized and immutable database, at least for the duration of the product’s lifecycle.

A data model organizes elements of data and standardizes how they relate to one another and real-world entities. TREE currently utilizes the United Nations’ DPP data model. Read more about the UNTP B2B DPP data model here.

TREE is part of the CEN-CENELEC JTC 24 committee tasked with the standardization of DPP systems. Based on the standardization results, TREE becomes a fully compliant, blockchain-agnostic, open-source, and permissionless solution for DPPs.
